Give Back to the Community

I saw a man on the bus with his three daughters.  He picked them up from school and was headed home.  I could tell by their pleasant conversation, that they really loved their dad and he loved them even more. The only problem was, I could also tell that their mother was either not around or not very active in the home because their hair was a mess. This gave me an idea on how to extend my gift of hair design.  So I called the recreation center to set up a meeting where I can schedule during scheduled events to offer free hair services to young girls in the community.  One thing I know for sure is that my glamdaughters always have their hair done.
My glam babygirl was sleepy.

Love What God Gave You!

There are many women that are stuck on weaves, extensions and/or wigs like white on rice. That's not what "Hair Glory" is all about.  It's ok to wear enhancements, but don't go to the extreme....two-three months with the same weave, etc. Come on ladies just think of the major damage it is causing your hair, and I know you see the hair loss when you take it out. Be versatile. Wear the weave/extension, etc. if you desire, but let your hair breathe from time to time. And I mean DO YOUR HAIR! My daughter changes her hair all the time, but definitely allows her hair to rest. Now this is Hair Glory!

Yes, it's me, the Hair Dr. On-Call on the opposite end of the "pole", so to speak.  I am usually doing hair, but I was asked by Wendy Bond, the co-owner of the, Bond Academy, in Bloomfield, NJ to model for them.  It was an AWESOME experience!  This is just to say that I think I did pretty good.  Now back to what I do best, hair!

Mohawk Hair History

The mohawk (also referred to as a mohican) is a hairstyle in which, in the most common variety, both sides of the head are shaven, leaving a strip of noticeably longer hair in the center. The mohawk is also sometimes referred to as an iro in reference to the Iroquois, they are my native ancestors, from whom the hairstyle is derived - though historically the hair was plucked out rather than shaved. As you see I have many variations of this hairstyle to suite my clients and they wear it well.

My Natural Mohawk Style
Whatever your preference when it comes to this style, any way you do it is a great look, but most of all I see as giving homage to my ancestors.  Check me out at

Ponytail frizz

Wow! How do I go on and enjoy a beautiful Penthouse to Rooftop Essence Festival Party in NYC?  I did my hair last night.  Mind you I am natural, so I press my hair sometimes and in order to where a sleek ponytail that's what I did. OMG it was so silky straight, so I pulled my hair up and added big lock twists. Now don't get me wrong, I love my natural, but when I want it straight, I want it straight. So I wake up in the morning, take off my scarf and see frizz-OH NO! Didn't have time for a do over because I had to go to church first! Oh well, I had to deal with it! The good news, at the place, the lighting was dim in the penthouse and the sun was setting on the rooftop!
This is why I'm giving you a pic from a distance.  I was classy sexy anyway, wearing my church attire out for the evening.  I think it just worked! Check out me, Darlene, the Hair Dr. at giving you the best in Hair Care and Design.
